The PX4 is a semi-automatic pistol in Population: One. It holds 16 rounds, the most of any pistol, and does 30 damage a bullet.
What the stars change on the PX4
Damage grows with the stars: 30 damage a bullet at one star, 36 at five, and 45 to 68 on a headshot.
The magazine holds 16 rounds at every star.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the PX4 fires
One shot per pull of the trigger. A pull within 143 ms of the last shot does nothing, so the PX4 fires at most 7 shots a second; under that, the player's trigger finger sets the pace.
Reloading is done by hand: the magazine to the well, then the rack. Nothing in the game times a reload.
Against a built wall every hit counts 2 times its damage.
Playing the PX4
It does the least damage a bullet of the semi-automatic pistols. One magazine holds enough rounds to down a player with a full shield.
Shots to down with the PX4
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the PX4 downs in 4 body shots or 3 headshots. Through a full shield it takes 7 body shots or 5 headshots, if everything lands.
At five stars: 3 body shots or 2 headshots on health alone, 6 body shots or 3 headshots through a full shield.
Where the PX4 stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 20 m. Past that a bullet does 24 damage and falls to 19 over the next 20 m, then stays at 19 out to the PX4's 160 m range.
A bullet travels at 500 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
PX4 or .357 Magnum, 1911 and Tec9
The .357 Magnum does 63 damage a bullet, up to 3 bullets a second. The 1911 does 44 damage a bullet, up to 5 bullets a second. The Tec9 does 25 damage a bullet, 17 bullets a second.
