The 1911 is a semi-automatic pistol in Population: One. It does 44 damage a bullet and holds 8 rounds.
What the stars change on the 1911
Damage grows with the stars: 44 damage a bullet at one star, 51 at five, and 61 to 75 on a headshot.
The magazine holds 8 rounds at every star.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the 1911 fires
One shot per pull of the trigger. A pull within 200 ms of the last shot does nothing, so the 1911 fires at most 5 shots a second; under that, the player's trigger finger sets the pace.
Reloading is done by hand: the magazine to the well, then the rack. Nothing in the game times a reload.
Against a built wall every hit counts 2 times its damage.
Playing the 1911
It sits between the .357 Magnum and the PX4 on damage a bullet, and holds half as many rounds as the PX4. Full damage ends at 16 m, the shortest of the semi-automatic pistols.
Shots to down with the 1911
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the 1911 downs in 3 body shots or 2 headshots. Through a full shield it takes 5 body shots or 4 headshots, if everything lands.
At five stars: 2 body shots or 2 headshots on health alone, 4 body shots or 3 headshots through a full shield.
Where the 1911 stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 16 m. Past that a bullet does 33 damage and falls to 30 over the next 20 m, then stays at 30 out to the 1911's 140 m range.
A bullet travels at 650 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
1911 or .357 Magnum, PX4 and Tec9
The .357 Magnum does 63 damage a bullet, up to 3 bullets a second. The PX4 does 30 damage a bullet, up to 7 bullets a second. The Tec9 does 25 damage a bullet, 17 bullets a second.
