The Silenced MP9 is a suppressed submachine gun in Population: One. It does 21 damage a bullet and holds 24 rounds at one star and 40 at five.
What the stars change on the Silenced MP9
A better Silenced MP9 doesn't hit harder. Every star does 21 damage a bullet, 26 on a headshot.
What a star buys is the magazine: 24 rounds at one star, 40 at five.
Every star also takes a little recoil off, so a five-star Silenced MP9 stays on target longer.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the Silenced MP9 fires
Hold the trigger and it fires 12 rounds a second until the magazine is empty: 2 s of fire at one star, 3.3 s at five.
Reloading is done by hand: the magazine to the well, then the rack. Nothing in the game times a reload.
Against a built wall every hit counts 1.5 times its damage.
Playing the Silenced MP9
Its damage falls off over a longer distance than any other SMG's, past 16 m and down to 9 damage a bullet.
Shots to down with the Silenced MP9
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the Silenced MP9 downs in 5 body shots or 4 headshots. Through a full shield it takes 10 body shots in about 0.8 s or 8 headshots in about 0.6 s, if everything lands.
Where the Silenced MP9 stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 16 m. Past that a bullet does 14 damage and falls to 9 over the next 32 m, then stays at 9 out to the Silenced MP9's 120 m range.
A bullet travels at 680 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
Silenced MP9 or MP5, P90, UMP and Uzis
The MP5 does 22 damage a bullet, 13 bullets a second. The P90 does 20 damage a bullet, 15 bullets a second. The UMP does 19 damage a bullet, 14 bullets a second. The Uzis do 14 damage a bullet, 13 bullets a second.
