| Damage | 35 |
| One hand | 15% faster |
The Knife is a one-handed blade in Population: One. Every hit does 35 damage, and holding it makes the player 15% faster on their feet.
What the Knife does in Population: One
A blade works differently from a gun. A swing's damage comes from how far the blade travels, not how hard the arm is thrown, and it goes straight to health: a shield or armor does nothing against it. The Knife does 35 damage on every swing that counts, so 3 hits take a player's 100 health. There are no headshots with a blade; a hit is a hit.
It goes in one hand only, and holding it makes the player 15% faster on their feet than running empty-handed.
How a swing works
- 1Swing fast to startA swing begins once the blade moves 4 m/s.
- 2Every swing hits the same35 once the blade has moved 3 cm. A longer or faster swing adds nothing.
- 3Keep it movingSlower than 3 m/s on average and the swing ends.
- 4One hit per playerThe same player can't be hit again for 0.2 s.
Playing the Knife
A swing counts after only 3 cm of travel, the shortest of the blades. Three hits take a player's full health.
