The DT11 is a double-barrelled shotgun in Population: One. It holds two shells of 8 pellets each and does 96 damage a shell when every pellet lands.
What the stars change on the DT11
A better DT11 doesn't hit harder. Every star does 96 damage a shell, head or body.
The magazine holds 2 shells at every star.
A five-star DT11 also takes the next pull sooner: up to 7 shells a second against 5.
Every star also tightens the spread, so more pellets land at the same distance.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the DT11 fires
One shell per pull of the trigger. A pull within 200 ms of the last shell does nothing, so the DT11 fires at most 5 shells a second; under that, the player's trigger finger sets the pace.
Reloading is done by hand: load it, then a flick of the wrist to close it. Nothing in the game times a reload.
A shell is 8 pellets of 12; the 96 is every one of them landing.
Playing the DT11
Its stars do not change the damage. They shorten the wait before the second shell and tighten the spread. Full damage ends at 6 m.
Shots to down with the DT11
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the DT11 downs in 2 shells. Through a full shield it takes 3 shells, if everything lands.
Where the DT11 stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 6 m. Past that a shell does 76 damage and falls to 48 over the next 16 m, then stays at 48 out to the DT11's 28 m range.
A pellet travels at 400 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
DT11 or M1014 and Matadors
The M1014 does 77 damage a shell, 3 shells a second. The Matadors do 20 damage a shell, up to 8 shells a second.
