The CX4 is a fully automatic carbine in Population: One, grouped with the assault rifles. It does 19 damage a bullet and has the flattest falloff of the automatic rifles.
What the stars change on the CX4
A better CX4 doesn't hit harder. Every star does 19 damage a bullet, 23 on a headshot.
What a star buys is the magazine: 25 rounds at one star, 45 at five.
Every star also takes a little recoil off, so a five-star CX4 stays on target longer.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the CX4 fires
Hold the trigger and it fires 6.5 rounds a second until the magazine is empty: 3.8 s of fire at one star, 6.9 s at five.
Reloading is done by hand: the magazine to the well, then the rack. Nothing in the game times a reload.
Playing the CX4
Its damage drops only from 19 to 16 damage a bullet between 55 m and its 350 m range. It fires slower than any other automatic rifle.
Shots to down with the CX4
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the CX4 downs in 6 body shots or 5 headshots. Through a full shield it takes 11 body shots in about 1.5 s or 9 headshots in about 1.2 s, if everything lands.
Where the CX4 stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 55 m. Past that a bullet does 18 damage and falls to 16 over the next 50 m, then stays at 16 out to the CX4's 350 m range.
A bullet travels at 820 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
CX4 or FAL, M60, MK18, AKM and RFB
The FAL does 33 damage a bullet, up to 5.5 bullets a second. The M60 does 27 damage a bullet, 7.5 bullets a second. The MK18 does 25 damage a bullet, up to 10.5 bullets a second. The AKM does 20 damage a bullet, 11 bullets a second. The RFB does 19 damage a bullet, 9.5 bullets a second.
