The SPR is a semi-automatic sniper rifle in Population: One. It does 65 damage a shot and 108 on a headshot, and holds 6 rounds.
What the stars change on the SPR
Damage grows with the stars: 65 damage a bullet at one star, 81 at five, and 108 to 176 on a headshot.
The magazine holds 6 rounds at every star.
A star changes nothing else: not the reload, not the range or the falloff, not the aim down the sights.
How the SPR fires
One shot per pull of the trigger. A pull within 333 ms of the last shot does nothing, so the SPR fires at most 3 shots a second; under that, the player's trigger finger sets the pace.
Reloading is done by hand: the magazine to the well, then the rack. Nothing in the game times a reload.
Playing the SPR
It has no bolt, so each shot follows the last with one pull of the trigger. Two body shots down a player with no shield. Full damage reaches 200 m, between the Sako 85 and the AWP.
Shots to down with the SPR
A player has 100 health and up to 100 shield. On health alone the SPR downs in 2 body shots or 1 headshot. Through a full shield it takes 4 body shots or 2 headshots, if everything lands.
At five stars: 2 body shots or 1 headshot on health alone, 3 body shots or 2 headshots through a full shield.
One headshot downs a player with no shield at any star.
Where the SPR stops hitting hard
Full damage out to 200 m. Past that a bullet does 58 damage and falls to 40 over the next 100 m, then stays at 40 out to the SPR's 700 m range.
A bullet travels at 800 m/s, so a target moving sideways at distance has to be led.
SPR or AWP and Sako 85
The AWP does 70 damage a bullet, bolt action. The Sako 85 does 60 damage a bullet, bolt action.
